L2TP/IPSec is a popular alternative to PPTP it provides a more stable, better encrypted, and lower latency connection. L2TP/IPSec is supported on a wide variety of devices. L2TP/IPSec runs with 256bit AES encryption over UDP port 500 or 4500.

Our OpenVPN service utilizes the professional Access Server version of the software. This means your installation will be a snap. OpenVPN runs with 1024 bit encryption for data communication over TCP Port 443. It is recommended that users use OpenVPN when security is a concern. For users connecting from countries with known internet blocks (Example: Saudi Arabia, Thailand, etc) it is recommended that you use OpenVPN exclusively.
NOTICE: As of November 2012 OpenVPN is no longer viable inside China. All connections are automatically firewalled by government servers within hours of a connection being made. It is recommended that any users inside China fall back on our L2TP/IPSec service as that is still functioning at this time from within China.

Our DNS Redirector Proxy service allows you to utilize content in multiple countries at the same time. You can appear as being in the United Kingdom on one site, while simultaneously appearing as being in the USA on another site in the same web browser. The DNS proxy works by altering the DNS servers your computer uses to find websites on the internet. Once your device or network is configured to use our DNS servers your data will be transparently intercepted and proxied through our servers when necessary to satisfy geolocation requirements. The DNS Proxy does not work by default with all websites, if a website you want to view is not properly working with the DNS Proxy you will need to request that support for it be added. You can request support for new websites by submitting a support ticket to our DNS Proxy department in our control panel.
You can see the list of supported websites in our knowledgebase.
NOTICE: When connecting to the DNS Proxy from a device that is using an "app" or "built-in" program for streaming instead of a browser, you must first authorize your ip address for the proxy network.

PPTP is a problematic VPN as it is easily blocked by firewalls and home routers. It is only recommended you use PPTP if it is a necessity in situations where you're unable to use L2TP/IPSec or OpenVPN. PPTP uses 128 bit encryption over 'GRE' Protocol #47
PPTP users will need to enable 'VPN Passthrough' and disable 'SPI' or 'Stateful Packet Inspection' in their cable/dsl router in most cases if there is a problem connecting. You can see our general instructions on how to do this in our Knowledge Base.
